Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss Contestants: All age divisions will compete in an Interview, Casual Wear/Speech, Formal Dress/Pop Question. The contestants will also perform an opening dance number that will have no point value. For the opening number contestants are required to wear black pants and solid white shoes, we will provide a t-shirt. |

Interview: This category is worth 35 points. The judges are looking for a young lady who is charming, confident and sincere. All interview questions should be answered with more than a yes or no. This is a time for the contestants to really impress the judges. They will be asking some questions that relate to your application and some that do not. Grammar, spelling and content of you application will also be judged. Little Miss and Junior Miss Contestants should wear a pretty dress. Miss contestants should wear a suit. This year, the Junior Miss and Miss Contestants are required to wear a closed toed taupe shoes. You want the attention on your face, not your feet! Make sure the height of your heel is appropriate for your age. You may not wear ballet flats. Make sure your attire fits you properly and the style is appropriate for your age and figure. Remember, you will be sitting in this outfit!

Casual Wear/Communications: This category is worth 35 points. You should wear the same outfit you wore for your interview, but if you really want you can wear a different outfit. Once again, taupe shoes are required for the Junior Miss and the Miss Contestants, you may not wear ballet flats. The Miss Contestants will give a 90 second speech. Topics will be revealed once applications become available.
The Junior Miss Contestants will give a 60 second speech. Topics will be revealed once applications become available.
The Little Miss Contestants will give a 30 second speech. Topics will be revealed once applications become available.
No props, sign language, or singing is allowed, poetry should be avoided. You should also avoid quoting other writers or famous people. The judges are well aware of the time limits and points will be deducted if you go over. |

Party Dress/Evening Gown/Pop Question: This is the final phase of the Pageant for the Queen titles. This is also your last chance to make an impression on the judges. This category is worth 30 points. Little Miss Contestants should wear a dress that would be worn to a wedding or a formal event.
Junior Miss and Miss Contestants should wear a formal floor length gown. Make sure to keep your shoes in good taste. DO NOT buy something you are not comfortable walking in.
Junior Miss Contestants should not wear a strapless gown or backless gown. The back of the dress should go no lower than mid back. Dresses with one shoulder strap are acceptable.
Little Miss and Junior Miss Contestants will each be asked one pop question. Relax, this question will be something you can answer.
Miss Contestants will be asked two pop questions. We feel the more communication skills we can see of the contestants in this age division, the more beneficial it will be to the Gurnee Community. |
